Tax Preparation & Planning Process
Step 1
Short Introductory Call
Onboarding Process
We have a quick call to discuss your tax goals and concerns. We can also discuss what the tax preparation process looks like. This call typically takes 5 – 10 minutes. This can be done by email or video conference if you prefer.
Step 2
You will send your prior year documents
During the introductory call, I will request some prior year documents. In most cases, I’ll ask for your most recently filed tax return and potentially other relevant financial records. These documents will help me to tailor the first meeting to your situation, and to provide a fee estimate.
Step 3
First Meeting
We can do this meeting however you want, whether that’s in person, by phone, video call, or email. I’ll lay out what the tax preparation process will look like for you and discuss a plan.
Tax Preparation Process
Step 1
Sending organizer and tax document request.
In early January, I will send you a tax organizer requesting the documents to prepare your tax return.
Step 2
You will send me your tax documents.
When you have received your tax documents (W-2, 1099s, etc.), you will send the documents to me. You can send them electronically, by mail, or drop them off in person.
Step 3
I will prepare your tax return
I will use the information you provide to prepare your tax return. Before finalizing, I will contact you to discuss any open items or planning opportunities.
Step 4
Signing & Filing
After the return is prepared, I will send it to you to sign. After I receive your signature, I will electronically file your tax return. You will be notified after it is accepted.
